Woman steals from Target store twice in one day

Spring Hill, Florida -- Instead of taking off with what she got the first time, a woman returned to a Spring Hill Target to steal more during the same visit.

Police say Laura Green, 50, admitted to walking into the Target, at 4401 Commercial Way, grabbing plastic bags from a vacant register, filling them with various items and walking out of store without paying for them.

Cruisin' Cafe provides free meals for kids this summer

Hernando County, FL -- Hernando County School Food and Nutrition Services will be providing free meals for kids throughout the summer, thanks to their new "Cruisin' Cafe."

The Cruisin' Cafe is an old school bus that has been converted into a diner on wheels. Beginning on June 11 and lasting through August 10, children ages 8 - 12 can stop by for free well balanced and nutritious meal.

Locations for the bus are as follows:

Hernando County, Florida-- Hernando County Utilities staff has received word from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection that the well sample from the Brookridge #2 well has tested negative for the Escherichia Coli  bacteria. 

The Boil Water Notice issued yesterday for Brookridge residents is now rescinded.

Outdoor travel writers to explore Nature Coast

 

The Citrus, Hernando and Pasco County Offices of Tourism Development are promoting the Nature Coast the old fashioned way, by word-of-mouth.

A week-long trip from May 19-26, called the “Nature Coast” FAM Tour, is designed for outdoor/travel writers to experience some of Florida’s best attractions.

The six journalists, who have been published in many notable publications including Alaska Airlines, Southern Living, and Gonomad.com among others, will travel from as far away as California, Oregon and Massachusetts.

Hernando County, FL -- The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is now taking applications for anyone interested in becoming an alternate School Crossing Guard.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, knowledge of basic traffic laws and safety procedures, and the ability to work with little to no supervision.

Boil water notice issued - E. Coli bacteria found in well water sample

 

Hernando County, Florida-- Hernando County Utilities received notification that Escherichia Coli bacteria was found in one well sample collected on May 8, 2012.

The County was notified today, May 14, and the well was immediately removed from service.

The utilities services reports that these bacteria can cause sickness and are a particular concern for people with weakened immune systems.
