Highlands County, Florida-- Back Porch Revival- Old Time String Band plays at Highlands Hammock State Park on Saturday, April 21. 

The event takes place from 7:00-9:00 p.m., and all members of the community are welcome! 

Admission costs $5, but attendees 12 and under are free.

Brooksville PD cracks down on sale of synthetic substances

Brooksville, Florida-- On March 23, Governor Rick Scott signed into law HB1175, declaring synthetic substances a substantial threat to the health and public safety of the state of Florida. 

Brooksville Police Department issued a media release to all retail establishments on March 29 to notify them of the recent law, and prevent continuous sale of the synthetic drugs, often times marketed as "Bath Salts", "Spice" or "K2".

Spring Hill, Florida-- The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors wants to remind you that the University of South Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to provide free business consultation to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Hernando County (consultations are open to the public).

Business consultants are available at the Chamber office, 15588 Aviation Loop Dr., Brooksville to provide consultation and access to all SBDC services.

Hernando County, FL -- The YMCA Suncoast wants to remind parents of Kindergartners in Hernando County that free Water Safety class vouchers will be going home with students this week.

This voucher entitles your child to a week of free Water Safety at the Y or Southern Hills. If you did not receive the voucher, you can still register by calling the Y at 351-688-9622.

The Florida Division of Forestry together with Hernando County Fire Rescue want residents and visitors to know that the wildfire threat within the county is currently very high as the county approaches a severe drought status.

Brooksville, FL -- The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is looking for employees who can multi-task, handle stress and have excelled customer service skills.

If you are interested in a career with the police, fire or EMS departments, check out the Open House and Job Fair on April 28th at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office (18900 Cortez Blvd).

Continuous tours will be running from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can tour the state of the art communications center and answer a 911 call first hand in the "911 Experience" simulator.

Brooksville Police catch notorious criminal

Brooksville, Florida -- Brooksville police officers arrested one of the county's most wanted criminals Friday.

Thomas Holland, 19, was arrested at 1510 Sabra Drive and is being held on $102,000 bond on charges including Robbery with a Firearm, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Armed Burglary.
