'Balloon Boy' parents get fake bids on hoax balloon

Richard and Mayumi Heene, the former Colorado couple who lied to authorities that their son floated away in a silver helium balloon, say they are re-opening their auction for the balloon because of low and fraudulent bids.

Imagine that - fake bids for a balloon at the center of the most hyper-inflated hoax in recent memory.

Their auction website said Monday that you've now got until Friday to make a bid.

Pregnant mom accused of beating kittens with bat

Brooksville, Florida - A pregnant mother in Brooksville is accused of beating two kittens with an aluminum bat. The kittens' injuries were so severe that one of them died and the other is badly hurt.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office says it happened at the Hill N. Dale Community Park at 6460 Boxwood Street in Brooksville around 7:30 p.m. Friday. But detectives say witnesses told them that 24-year-old Wilana Frazier didn't act alone. They say she allowed her young sons to participate too. Her son's are 5 and 8.

Four kids at the playground told detectives they watched as Frazier beat the two kittens, who were just a few weeks old. Patrick Pace, a supervisor with Hernando County Animal Services says one of his animal control officers responded and found one kitten "unconscious and unresponsive."

Police: Woman kills kitten in front of children

Brooksville, Florida -- A Hernando County woman was arrested after witnesses saw her and her children abusing and killing kittens at a public park.

Deputies say 24-year-old Wilana Frazier was at Hill 'n Dale Community Park on Boxwood Avenue when she was seen hitting two kittens with a baseball bat. One of the kittens died and the other was severely injured.

Witnesses told investigators Frazier's two sons -- ages 5 and 8 -- not only witnessed the abuse, but also participated. The children reportedly threw one of the kittens against a tree and cut the other kitten's neck, then threw the animal in the trash.

Several children were able to save the second kitten, which was taken by animal services for treatment.

When questioned by deputies, Frazier denied hurting the small cats.

An independent, nonprofit organization based in Sarasota, the Neighborhood Community Foundation strives to help residents develop a better understanding of the foreclosure process, recognize their legal rights, and learn about their options and potential solutions so they can remain in their home.

Hernando man killed in Citrus Co. crash

Citrus County, FL -- A Hernando man was killed in a head-on collision with a bus on CR-491 Thursday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 61-year-old Jeffery Stele, was driving sorth on CR-491 (North Lecanto Hwy) south of North Deltona Blvd. when he lost control of his Ford Focus and crossed over the painted median.

Barney Titus, 55, was driving a Prevost bus north on CR-491 when Stele crossed into northbound lanes. The two vehicles tried to avoid each other but were unable to, hitting each other nearly head on.

The series, which continues June 13, aims to help participants become better coaches, role models and supporters in the workplace.
