Palm Harbor couple finds drunk intruder on couch

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) -- Authorities say a Tampa Bay couple woke up to find a drunk intruder passed out on their couch -- next to a plate of food he apparently cooked for himself.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says that when confronted, Mark Sirben insisted he lived there and passed out again. When a deputy arrived at the home, Sirben was still asleep.

The 51-year-old was charged with trespassing an occupied structure and criminal mischief because he allegedly broke a fence to gain access to the home's backyard. He is believed to have entered through an unlocked door.

Sirben is a resident of Spring Hill, about 40 miles northeast of the Palm Harbor home where he was found. He was still being held at the Pinellas County Jail as of Sunday evening.
