Woman steals $500K from in-laws to feed gambling habit

Brooksville, Florida -- A woman admitted to stealing more than $500,000 from her Brooksville in-laws in order to feed her gambling habit.


Deputies say Jennifer Dennison, 42, took about $513,535 from her father-in-law and mother-in-law's bank accounts.  The mother-in-law, 73, suffers from advanced dementia, and the father-in-law is 88.


Detectives say Dennison's husband had power of attorney for his parents, but she handled all the finances.

Spring Hill, FL --- Hernando County Sheriff's deputies say a two-year-old special needs child was found in the same bedroom as marijuana grow operation in Spring Hill.


Investigators served the search warrant at the house on 9450 Spring Hill Drive Tuesday.


Inside, they found a marijuana grow box, which held five small buckets, a light and a found.  The plants were small enough to flush down the toilet, investigators said.

Spring Hill, FL -- A woman told deputies "hard times" led her to steal lip gloss, razors, cheese and Prilosec from a Publix in Spring Hill.


Investigators say Tracy Ann Zablocki, 45, walked into the store around 4 p.m. on April 1 and took the items.


The store is located on Mariner Boulevard in the Mariner Commons Plaza.

Spring Hill, FL -- An 18-year-old Star Education student was arrested at his school after police revealed he had sex with a 14-year-old girl.

The Brooksville Police Department arrived at Star Education on Tuesday, April 5 and arrested William McCollum of Brooksville, in reference to an incident that occurred on Feb. 1, 2011, in the area of Union Street and Wood Drive.

Brooksville, FL -- A 23-year-old woman was caught in the act while trying to steal from a Brooksville Walmart yesterday afternoon.

According to the Brooksville police report, around 2 p.m. Monday, Ashley Dunham, was seen by loss prevention agents putting items into a shopping bag that she brought with her into the store.

Dunham walked right passed the registers and was stopped by the agents as she attempted to leave the store with the unpurchased items.
