Mail carriers collect food for Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!

Carrollwood, Florida - Mail carriers will take part in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Residents can leave non-perishable food item by their mailbox and the letter carrier will pick it up. The food will be donated to food banks to distribute to needy citizens.

Last year, over 70-million pounds of food was donated across the country.

If you cannot leave food items by your mailbox, you can drop it by your local post office.

Hernando County, Florida-- Sheriff Al Nienhuis has announced a new Hernando County Sheriff's Office plan for pinching those tax-payer pennies!

According to Sheriff Nienhuis, inmates from the Hernando County Detention Center will now be responsible for the landscaping and grounds maintenance at both the Hernando County Sheriff's Office and the Hernando County Detention Center.

Hernando County, Florida-- Local law enforcement officers ask for your support as they participate in the annual Torch Run for Special Olympics on Monday, April 15.

Hernando County is one of 66 in Florida to participate in this event each year. Those 66 counties add up to more than 5,000 officers from over 300 agencies- all running and "carrying the torch" on a 1500 mile relay to benefit the athletes of the Special Olympics

Weeki Wachee, Florida-- The Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, Inc. (FWWSSP) is seeking your support through its fundraiser, “Brick Friend Forever” (BFF).

According to FWWSSP reps, the BFF project invites you to cement your friendship with the park by buying a personalized paver brick to be placed into the walkway in front of the gates at the park entrance.
