Woman spends over $25K with stolen credit cards | Crime
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Brooksville, Florida -- A Brooksville woman racked up over $25,000 at local gas stations on two credit cards she stole from her boyfriend's parents.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Christina Hill was living at her boyfriend, Thomas Lovelock Jr.'s parents' home when she stole cards.
Lovelock's parents reported the cards stolen from their home around Nov. 13 and that 95 transactions were made at various locations in Hernando County, totaling approximately $26,100.
Records show the majority of the purchases came from area gas stations, a Dollar Store and Walmart. Over $23,000 was purchased on a Chase Bank Visa card, which police say also affects the bank since their policy is to reimburse cardholders of losses due to fraudulent purchases. The rest was made on an American Express card.
During an investigation into the theft, video surveillance showed Hill using the cards in question in all instances. After police called Christina about the incidents, she turned herself in a couple of days later.
She currently is charged with Organized Fraud.
