In celebration of National Small Business Week, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of South Florida (USF) in conjunction with the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Administration will be hosting a free half day business financing panel presentation Meet the Lenders on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce from 9 – 11:30 AM, including networking.

Mail carriers collect food for Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!

Carrollwood, Florida - Mail carriers will take part in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Residents can leave non-perishable food item by their mailbox and the letter carrier will pick it up. The food will be donated to food banks to distribute to needy citizens.

Last year, over 70-million pounds of food was donated across the country.

If you cannot leave food items by your mailbox, you can drop it by your local post office.

The event will bring together more than 30 employers from various fields including banking, law enforcement, education, retail, hospitality, technology, community services and healthcare.

Drug take back program in Hernando County April 27, 2013

Brooksville, FL -- The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is assisting the Drug Enforcement Agency with a Drug Take Back Program on Saturday, April 27.

The event will take place at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 13300 Cortez Blvd. in Brooksville from 10 a.m.. to 2 p.m.

Citizens with unused and/or expired medications that would like to dispose of them properly can bring them to the Drug Take Back Program. The drugs will be disposed of at no cost to citizens.

The meeting will be held in the John Law Ayers Room, Room 160, Hernando County Government Center, 20 N. Main St., Brooksville, Florida.
