McDonald's offers free FCAT breakfasts Monday morning

Tampa, Florida-- According to a recent release, more than 800 McDonald's restaurants in the state of Florida will provide a free breakfast to students on April 16, the first day of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT).

Students in grades three-11 can enjoy a complimentary Egg McMuffin, Apple Slices, and a low-fat milk or orange juice from any of the 188 McDonald's restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. 

Be sure to get there between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to take advantage of this offer!

County Commissioner celebrates National Library Week

Spring Hill, Florida -- A special guest reader will join the Hernando County Public Library System this week for story time.

Hernando County Commissioner Jeff Stabins will come to the Spring Hill Branch Library for their regularly scheduled Toddler Time and Storytime in recognition of National Library Week, and will read a story to the group.

Commissioner Stabins will be at the Spring Hill Branch Library, located at 9220 Spring Hill Drive, on Thursday, April 12. Toddler Time starts at 10:15 a.m., and Storytime starts at 11 a.m.

Brooksville, Florida - According to a Hernando County release, The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce has announced that it is offering its annual course in Public Speaking to its members and the general public.

Participants will attend five weekly sessions from 5:30-7:30 p.m., on Mondays, starting April 16 and ending May 14 at The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce building, training room, 15588 Aviation Loop Dr. Brooksville, Florida 34604.

Hernando County, Florida-- According to a recent release, the Metropolitan Planning Organization will conduct a public meeting of the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), on Wednesday, April 18.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m., at the Hernando County Main (Brooksville) Library, 238 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, Florida.

Croom Fools to run 50, 30 and 16 mile races today

Brooksville, Florida-- On your mark, get set, go!

250 runners pre-registered to participate in one of the three races that make up the 17th Annual Croom Fools Run event this year.

Participants will run either 50 miles, 31 miles, or 16 miles across the Croom Hiking Trail, which is said to offer some of the best terrain in Florida. 

All racers have a 6:00 p.m. deadline to complete their event.

Special Olympics torch passing through Hernando Co.

Hernando County, Florida -- Law enforcement officers from over 300 Florida agencies are participating in the state-wide torch run to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Florida.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office will once again have the opportunity to participate in the torch run on April 9 at 9 a.m. beginning at Killingsworth Plaza in Brooksvile. Participants will follow a predetermines route that will end on the front steps of the Hernando County Courthouse.
