Man arrested for mortgage fraud; search for more possible victims

Brooksville, FL -- Hernando County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man who they say preyed on residents looking for help with mortgages.

According to a press release, on at least three separate occasions between March and May of 2012, residents in both Hernando and Citrus Counties fell victim to someone they thought they could trust.

62-year-old Gaetano Antonelli told one set of victims he could rescue them from foreclosure. He told other victims he was a home seller, by advertising properties for sale on Craigslist.

Suncoast Parkway flooding may clear by Friday

Brooksville, Florida- Parts of the Bay area still feel the effects of Tropical Storm Debby. A portion of the Suncoast Parkway in Hernando County remains closed because of flooding and will stay closed during the July 4 Holiday.

The good news is, the water has nearly cleared the south bound lanes, when just a few days ago the water stretched nearly a mile long covering the roadway. 

The water is deepest on the north bound lanes, reaching depths of about four feet in some points.

Hernando County, Florida--The Hernando County Division of Transportation (DOT) Services announced that Alice Street will be partially closed tomorrow, Tuesday, July 3.

According to the DOT, maintenance crews will be repairing a damaged culvert. 

Emergency access will be available at all times through the Moss Street gate, and residents will have access to their homes.

Hernando County, Florida-- All county government offices, including the Northwest Solid Waste Facility and convenience centers, will be closed for the Independence Day Holiday on Wednesday, July 4.  

All County facilities will re-open on Thursday, July 5.

Residential customers of Republic Services, Inc. d/b/a Seaside Sanitation, will not have collection service on July 4. 

According to he county's community relations, collection will resume on customers' next regularly scheduled collection day.

Brooksville, FL -- As part of the City of Brooksville's commitment to the health of safety of citizens and visitors, Brooksville has launched a Red Light Safety Program.

Red light cameras have been capturing violations since May 18 at the following locations:

Hernando County, Florida-- HCSO announced the storm shelter located at The Enrichment Center, (800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd.) closed today at 4 p.m.

The shelter closed by a collaborated decision of ARC and EM staff. 

According to HCSO, the Red Cross will continue to respond to individual calls through the Disaster Action team throughout the weekend.

Hernando, Florida -- The sheriff's office says road conditions in the area of Powell Rd. east of Broad St. (US41) have deteriorated to a point where the road is no longer safe to travel.

The roadway has been shut down in that area and motorists are advised to find alternate routes around this area until the roadway can be assessed and repaired.
