Congressman Bilirakis hosts free job fair at Pasco-Hernando CC

Dade City, FL -- The office of U.S. representative Gus Bilirakis has announced that the congressman will hold a job fair on May 2, at Pasco-Hernando Community College. The event will bring together more than 30 employers from various fields including banking, law enforcement, education, retail, hospitality, technology, community services and healthcare.

Spring Hill, Florida -- Just over three weeks ago, two positions, rank of Sergeant, became vacant at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Today, Sheriff Al Nienhuis is pleased to announce the following two promotions that will be effective on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Deputy Kelly Brown and Deputy Gisele DePiero were both promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant Kelly Brown will serve in the Operations Bureau in District One under the supervision of Lieutenant Will Power.

Sergeant Brown is a ten-year veteran of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

They are asking for photos, stories, and anecdotes for a celebration being planned for the City of Brooksville's Founders' Week in October.

Online, underage sex operation nets 14 arrests

Plant City, Florida-- Police arrested 14 people in Plant City last week as a part of a three-day, undercover sting in which suspects arranged to have sex with minors.

According to reports, Plant City Police teamed up with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and prosecutors from the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office to conduct ;"Operation Last Minute".

Brooksville, FL -- Hernando County Government Broadcasting is looking for volunteer assistance with editing video projects. Experience Adobe Premiere 5.5 software is preferred, and the volunteer would need to contribute up to 16 hours per week as their schedule permits.

Spring Hill fire chief named new Director of Public Safety

Brooksville, FL-- Spring Hill Fire Chief Michael Rampino has been selected for the position of Director of Public Safety for Hernando County. The selection was announced at a Board of County Commissioner's meeting by County Administrator Leonard Sossamon. The former Director of Public Safety will now report to Rampino.

Detention deputy risks own safety for citizen

Hernando Co., FL-- Hernando County Sheriff's Department is recognizing Deputy Bobby Stalvey for his bravery and service this past Friday, January 4. 

According to reports, Deputy Stalvey was en route to the Manatee County Detention Center on assignment around 8:45 a.m., when he saw a car crash take place right in front of him.

A white, Chevy Trailblazer reportedly left I-75 and crashed into the nearby guard rail, causing it to bounce off the rail and overturn onto the passenger's side.
