Hernando County, Florida -- Did you know Hernando County Public Library offers free classes?

It's true. All that is needed is a Hernando County Library Card ID and that allows people to sign up to 5 courses. People then have 6 months to finish each course. 

Some of the courses include: accounting, office skills, psychology, career training, science, and much more. Visit http://www.hcpl.lib.fl.us/ to learn more.

Florida State Parks announces new, free mobile app

Florida-- Trees, lakes, trails, wildlife- they're all things that come to mind when thinking about Florida's parks. Techonology, smartphones and applications, howeverm are probably the last things to come to mind- until now!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.

Ongoing Events:

Toddler Times are at 10:30 and Storytimes are at 11:15 a.m. every Tuesday through Friday. Toddler Time is recommended for ages 18 to 35 months, and Storytime is recommended for ages 3 to 5 years. No registration is required. These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Library, and the regular schedule is:

Spring Hill, Florida -- The Library Advisory Committee will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 5:00 p.m. at the Spring Hill Branch Library which is located at 9220 Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hil.

The public is invited to attend and provide public comment.

Brooksville, FL-- The county has announced new prices for Pine Island's 'Bark Island Event' that takes place every other Saturday morning.

They say as of January 26, the fee for the first dog will be $7. For those bringing more than one pet, there will be a $3 fee for each additional dog.

Bark Island is held at Alfred McKethan Park (Pine Island) every other Saturday from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

Lake Townsen Regional Park reopens fishing ramp and pier

Lake Townsen Regional Park reopens fishing ramp and pier

 

Hernando Co., FL-- The boat ramp and fishing pier at Lake Townsen Regional Park has re-opened for small vessel boating, says the County Parks and Recreation Department. 

The ramp and pier closed back in September because of rising water levels from heavy rainfall.

The parks is located at 28011 Lake Lindsey Rd (C.R. 476).
