Tampa, Florida-- The numbers are in, and they are up! More homes were sold last month in the Tampa Bay area than in in the past seven years combined.

According to MLS figures, 3,100 homes were sold in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties last month, a 7 percent increase compared to the same month in 2012.

Home sales prices also increased, up 22 percent over the same time period. 

The average home in the Tampa Bay area sold for $150,000.

As Hernando County attempts to recover from Tropical Storm Debby, the sheriff's office still needs to gather information on storm related damages.

Any businesses within Hernando County that have suffered any damage directly related to Tropical Storm Debby to contact the Emergency Operations Center. All damages to private property or residential homes should also be reported to the Emergency Operations Center.

This information is vital as damage assessment teams are currently on the ground in Hernando County evaluating the aftermath from Tropical Storm Debby.

Hernando Fine Arts Council has new home

Hernando County, Florida -- The Hernando County Fire Arts Council announced Saturday it has leased an office, gallery and meeting space in the Brooksville area.  

Starting June 1, the new spaces include a fully furnished office connecting to a reception area, a large art gallery suitable for exhibits, musical programs and other events, and an adjacent area to be used as the official meeting room for the council’s monthly meetings.

Citrus County offers First Time Homebuyers Classes

Citrus County, Florida-- Citrus County Housing Services is offering First Time Homebuyers classes to interested individuals.  One classroom session will be held this month.  There is no charge to attend these sessions, but you must reserve your seat. 

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.  This class is a requirement for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and the SHIP program.

The session will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Suarez Home & Finance Corp., 51 West Fort Dade Ave. Brooksville, FL 34601.

Parade of Homes ends April 1

Brandon, Florida—2012’s Parade of Homes, a two-week home parade that displays the newest home designs and housing trends, wraps up on Sunday, April 1.

The parade, with close to 90 model homes featured in 50 communities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties, had a 26 percent increase in entries, and a 40-45 percent increase in overall attendance from previous years’ stats.
